The Blind, not so Challenged
The Blind prove to be capable
and proud men and women
through Outward Bound

For 3 days, from July 11th through to 13th 2008, twenty six blind men and women pushed their own limits through Outward Bound Empowerment program. The goal of the program was to help improve their self-confidence and help them realize that their physical limitations are not and should never be an obstacle to succeed. They took on challenges that people with eyesight would normally do, such as ropes course at 7 meters above ground; canoeing on lake Jatiluhur, building rafts and later use them to cross an island. The program was successful. Fajar, one participant said after the completion of the program,”This is a powerful program. I learned so much about myself, not only about my limitations, but in spite of that, what I’m capable of doing!”

The participants were gathered through Laetitia. A non-profit organization for the blind, deaf and physically disabled. Outward Bound Indonesia has sponsored the physically disabled for Outward Bound Empowerment programs since 1996.
