Course questions:

What do I do at an OBI Course?

The OBI operates in the outdoors as its classroom. You will discover and "learn by doing". Our unique outdoor curriculum will provide a safe environment for you to engage in a variety of activities that will help you not only to discover, but also test yourself. The array of activities featured in our programs includes problem-solving activities and physical challenges such as rope courses, abseiling, still-water rafting and land expeditions.

Through them, people are faced by challenging situations, which will develop their confidence and call out their courage and determination. Principles like compassion, trust, teamwork and a positive "can-do" spirit are naturally cultivated. Our experienced facilitators this learning method so that these concepts become real, meaningful and applicable to daily life.

Who are the Outward Bound facilitators? What is the facilitator-to-participant ratio?

OBI facilitators will be your mentor, counselor, safety officer and outdoor educator during the course. Their work is not merely the transfer of skills or knowledge, but more importantly, of life values such as teamwork, perseverance, mental tenacity and commitment.

Our facilitators are all college graduates with diverse backgrounds.

They are skilled and trained in outdoor activities such as rafting, mountaineering, rock-climbing and canoeing. Their proficiency in safety and emergency procedures has been tested to meet International standards.

OBI Facilitators are trained and retrained periodically to optimize their skills and to provide the best ‘lifetime experience’ for our participants.

For good safety supervision, OBI runs on a facilitator-to-participation ratio of 1:14.
