Ninety seven Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH)
students show courage by taking on an
Outward Bound Youth Program for 5 days from
1 – 5 October 2007. Integrated with the
school curriculum to promote
self-confidence, interdependent,
adaptability, creativity, teamwork, trust as
well as bravery, the kids, guided by Outward
Bound instructors and their school teachers
learned those qualities in the outdoor
setting by using experiential learning/
learning by doing method.
Aside from hiking, camping, abseiling, the
kids ranging from 14 – 17 years old, also
learned to adapt in new and unfamiliar
environments by living with locals in their
homes, creating handicrafts and catching
fish.
This Youth Program has been a great success
for Sekolah Pelita Harapan for 5 years
running.
